On 17th May 2018 Bristol lost one of its best-known Chartered Surveyors Malcolm Gunter to a rare form of Motor Neurone Disease. A number of the region’s property professionals formed the Malcolm Gunter Foundation to raise funds for research into this terrible disease and help his teenage daughter to complete her education.
Malcolm, who was in his early 50’s was very active in sailing, surfing, walking and cycling. It was therefore decided that to mark the anniversary of his passing there would be a Coast to Coast Challenge from Ilfracombe where he had enjoyed surfing to Plymouth where he sailed.
Richard Clarke, Head of Land and Planning at Autograph Homes had known Malcolm for many years, so agreed to join the challenge. Richard supported by his wife and a few friends joined the other 120 people who took the challenge. People both walked or cycled the 100 mile route over Exmoor and Dartmoor. The start was at the Verity Statue in Ilfracombe and finished at the Smeaton Tower on The Hoe at Plymouth. For a celebratory glass of fizz with Malcolm’s family.
Autograph Homes supported Richard’s ride and were proud to be a part of the wide support shown by the wider property sector. The event raised over £11,000 for this worthy cause.
